Frequently asked questions about
my Boulder Counseling and Psychotherapy Practice.
What kind of people do you tend
to work with?
Most of my clients are very
successful and intelligent people who may be experiencing a specific
challenge in their life or a more generalized issue (anxiety,
compulsive thoughts or worry, life transition or grief, depression,
relationship trouble) or feel stuck in some way, and may want to work
on moving past specific obstacles to creating a more
satisfying life. I work with men, women and couples, ranging from young
adults to people in their fifties and sixties. Most of my clients live
in Boulder, Denver, and the surrounding metro area.
When and Where do you see clients?
I work from my North
Boulder Office
on Monday late afternoons and evenings (from 4pm to about 7:30pm),
Wednesday evenings (from 5:15pm to about 8pm), Thursday during the day
(from 8am to 5:30pm), and Friday (from 8am to 6pm.) All sessions are by appointment.
How often would I come in?
I
recommend weekly sessions, at least initially, as this provides a good
foundation for creating change and establishing a strong relationship.
In my experience, this also creates a kind of momentum that makes
healing and change more stable and reliable. I am flexible around this
as each person and couple's needs are different.
How many sessions would I see you?
Most clients
need from 10 to 30 sessions to experience significant change,
though many clients notice positive changes and improvements
after 1 or 2 sessions. The duration of therapy is really up
to you. It depends on your goals, the complexity of the situation, and
your readiness to change.
How long does a
session last?
Counseling
sessions run 50-60 minutes. Sometimes, I will book longer
sessions if the need arises, or you feel you want more time.
What is your fee?
I offer
a fee of $100/session for 50-60 minute sessions. 80 minute
sessions are $125/session. I offer some sliding scale and
reduced fee slots for students and others who cannot afford the full
fee.
How does this
work with my insurance?
I am not
currently accepting insurance, however I can provide you with an
invoice that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible
reimbursement. Your insurance will need to accept "out of network"
providers.
What forms of
payment do you accept?
I accept cash,
check, as well as credit and debit cards through paypal.
How do I contact
you?
Contact by phone
or email is fine. My office phone number is 303.225.2700 and
